resume

Effective resume can greatly improve your chances of getting your dream job. How does one make sure that his/her CV is top notch? We have found many things available over the web, we just bring all the good things together at a single place.

Know the purpose of your resume and use the right keywords.

This is a very first step in effective resume writing, you must know the purpose of the resume i.e. if you are going for an interview for the post of Sales Officer then your resume should have the relevant keywords that shows your interest, knowledge and experience in Sales field. This can be done by cutting down the unnecessary list of keywords (e.g., disciplined, creative, problem solver), just focus on the job profile and mention all the relevant keywords (e.g. good communication and sale skills, love to interact with people to understand there requirements.), these keywords should be in your title too, this make sure to grab attention instantly, your boss (hopefully!) have received too many resumes so he need to shortlist the resumes quickly on the basis of the keywords. You must understand that resume is your front and first face so you should give your 100% in creating your resume.

Note:
Employers will usually make a judgment about your resume in 15-20 seconds, so title should be descriptive.
Bad title: Accounting
Good title: Management of A/R and A/P and Recordkeeping

Put the most important information first

This point is valid both to the overall order of your resume, as well as to the individual sections. Like if you are applying for a job for which they need an experienced employe so put your sales experience first, your previous work experience will be the most important part of the resume. You don’t need to list all your work experiences If you have job experiences that are not relevant to the current opportunity, you should just omit them.

Attention to the typography

Make sure that your fonts are big enough. The smaller you should go is 11 points, but 12 is probably safer. Do not use capital letters all over the place, remember that your goal is to communicate a message as fast and as clearly as possible. Arial and Times are good choices. Do not use words for writing any number like use 12% instead of twelve present.

Use bullet points: No employer will have the time (or patience) to read long paragraphs of text. Make sure, therefore, to use bullet points and short sentences to describe your experiences, educational background and professional objectives.

Add Picture: Good looks always score, so always attach your picture to the resume.

Achievements and responsibilities- Always explain the benefits of your skills

Merely stating that you can do something will not catch the attention of the employer. If you manage to explain how it will benefit his company, and to connect it to tangible results, then you will greatly improve your chances. Never forget to mention all of your professional achievements and job responsibilities but should be point to point.

Keep the salary in mind

The image you will create with your resume must match the salary and responsibility level that you are aiming for.

Update your resume regularly

It is a good idea to update your resume on a regular basis. Add all the new information that you think is relevant, as well as courses, training programs and other academic qualifications that you might receive along the way. This is the best way to keep track of everything and to make sure that you will not end up sending an obsolete document to the employer.

Resumes are lists of work experience detailing past positions held and skills learned through education or on the job. Microsoft Word offers you the option of creating your resume through a template.
